We are trying to raise enough money to take our troop to Colorado. We want to take them white water rafting. Any ideas on fundraising or where to go in Colorado?

u can go house to house selling candy and pizza
I personally am I girl scout and to raise money we do badges for younger troops. They could hold a bake sale, car wash, or yard sale with 100% profit towards the troop!
stick with cookies please.
As far as the funds I would first start with finding a rafting company that would offer a group discount especially for a scouting trip. Really you would be surprised at how many people will give money. Doing a car wash at a gas station or on a busy street brings in a lot of money for donations.
As far as were to go on a budget I would find the trip on Adventure Brat. You can search over 100 whitewater rafting trips in Colorado based on price and Adventure Brat doesn’t charge the outfitters commission so you don’t have to pay a middle man as well, you get the best price directly from the company that sells the trip.
Here are all of the whitewater trips they have in Colorado…
Here are the ones under $200…
You can always contact Adventure Brat and they may help you find the right outfitter and may be even be able to work something out with the outfitter to help you out.
Hope this helps
1.)First of all, your troop must have participated in all of the council sponored fund-raisers to do and aditional one.
2.)You must come up with a sale idea that meets all of the Girl Scout standards outlined in Safety-Wise (in the standards section and in the safety section). You will find in that text that GIRL SCOUTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DO RAFFLES. Also, remember that Girl Scouts are not permitted to ask for money, but are permitted to recieve unsolicited donations.
Some good ones I’ve seen are:
-candy bar sales
-bake sales
-car washes (you could even collect one canned good PLUS a donation per car and that way you are preforming a community sevice project for the food bank as well)
-painting address numbers on the street (this would require community permission and maybe a permit, but has been a very lucrative project in our community and ties in with safety ie.ems can find housews better)
-good, old-fashioned summer yard-work
-baby-sitting
Ask your girls for more ideas…they usually come up with the best ones!
3.)You must fill out the “additional money earning” form that gets mailed to every leader and your council must approve it. Have one of the girls call around and find a few options and prices for rafting in your area and bring the info back to the troop for a vote. You’ll need some of this info for filling out your form.
4.)Put it into action and try to have the girls themselves be very involved in the bookeeping and all aspects of planning (while an adult oversees). After all, Girl Scouts is (among other things) about teaching independece in a supervised environment.
Best of luck to you! I’m sure you’ll pull this off and kudos to you for trying to keep the older scouts interested!
